Improve Credit
This term refers to efforts at creating a more desirable credit status. Credit counselling is readily available to consumers who need assistance in developing the financial strategies and abilities required to achieve and maintain a better credit status.
There are both non-profit organizations that provide free or low-cost educational services and financial guidance and there are for-profit businesses that specialize in providing these types of services. Credit counselling is readily available through a variety of mediums. It can be obtained via Internet, over the phone and in person. Services are readily available in Spanish, as well.
There are, in addition, steps that the individual consumer can take on his or her own to improve damaged credit. Resources such as the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection are valuable sources of information, offering the consumer a variety of credit management education programs.
